I have been on 80Mg of Diovan for controlling High Blood Pressure (at worst 143/92) but am suffering horrendous side effects (massive hair loss, burning / numb and then hypersensitive feet, insomnia, lack of appetite, rashes that force you to scratch and break the skin, blurred vision, lethargy etc etc) and want to know if it would be a good move to starton, say 20Mg of Lisax with potassium supplement and would also like to know if there would be a requirement to take Magnesium supplements too?
Also... who can tell me if my hair will regrow please???
Can I swap Diovan for Lisax?

Hi,
I know you know this , but in order to help, I also need to know too... OK
Diovan (valsartan) is a prescription medicine that has been licensed to treat several conditions related to the heart and blood vessels. It is part of a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers, or ARBs for short.
I am sorry, I did research the supplement "Lisax w/ potassium" changed the spelling many times and could not find any supplement by that name.
Can you be so kind and recheck the spelling (lisax)? so we can help you please.
I have listed magnesioum and potassium for you.-
MAGNESIOUM
Magnesium is used as a dietary supplement for individuals who are deficient in magnesium. Although a balanced diet usually supplies all the magnesium a person needs, magnesium supplements may be needed by patients who have lost magnesium because of illness or treatment with certain medicines.

I have been taking Diovan 325mg for about seven years. Two years ago, my hair started falling out. I had a full head of very thick hair. Now it is thin and I have many small bald areas. I believe it is a long-term related side effect of the Diovan. Alopecia is listed in Diovan's post-marketing material. I will be going off Diovan soon, after a consultation with my MD about an alternative drug for my high blood pressure. In the meantime, I am taking a supplement which is meant to decrease DHT, using 5% minoxidil (even though I am a female), and paying for low level laser treatments. It has been one month and I have not seen results yet, but have been told that it takes at least three months to see a result. So, I am in the middle of figuring out why I have hairloss (I have no other medical issues that could cause hairloss) and then doing something about it. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Hi and many thanks for getting back to me and... apologies for the error, the Diuretic I would like to test is called LASIX (40Mg).
I was advised that when using this tablet, it would deplete my source of Potassium and so bought a bottle of Potassium tablets for that reason.
The other point mentioned was indeed the requirement to take Magnesium supplements too! The use of Potassium / Magnesium supplements is due to the increase in urination to the Lasix (being a diuretic). This diuretic lowers the amount of salt, Magnesium and Potassium, so I was told and with the lowering of salt, comes lower BP!
Can you advise if this is correct because I hear a lot of people are going over to diuretics (Water Pills) in order to get away fromall the prescribed medication side effects?
Many thanks
