I have chronic back and neck pain, Fibromyalgia, and Osteoarthritus, and I have heard, read, and talked to people that say Cymbalta is the way to go for the pain and Fibromyalgia. I was wondering if anyone knew if I could just switch to Cymbalta, or if I had to wean off the Pristiq (I take 100mg)? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks relunsford2007

I wouldn't recommend just stopping the Pristiq and starting the Cymbalta. The withdrawals will still set in even with the Cymbalta. You can do a fast taper over the next two weeks and then start the Cymbalta. As they both affect the same neurotransmitters, should be a smooth change.

Thanks Laurie... I will definately take your advice. The stories I have heard about quitting Pristiq and Effexor haven't been pretty, and I don't want any part of that girl!! Thanks for responding. We can all always count on you. That is a tremendous compliment!! Take care you!
Thanks Ruth, Try to take at least a couple weeks to taper especially since you are on the higher dose. Best of luck, I hope the Cymbalta works better!!!
I agree you should not just quit and when you can get off the other I do think you will like Cymbalta much better for fibro though.
