Yes. Your vet is correct. Dramamine is an antihistamine and can be give to animals to prevent motion sickness.
The dose for dogs is 2-4 mg/pound and can be given every 8 hours.
ie. for your dog 6 to12mg - give 30 to 60 minutes before travelling.
