Alcoholics may have reduced blood levels of doxycycline. This is because in this group of people alcohol stimulates the liver to metabolise the doxycycline. Alcohol has not been found to have this effect in people who drink moderately. Hope this helps, more accurate info could be sought from the doc/pharmacist who prescribed the med.
