i have been told i have pancreititus from taking glucophage for a long time.

A possible adverse drug effect during acute renal failure
Warnings--- Sensitivity to metformin hydrochloride (glucophage). Diabetic coma and ketoacidosis, impairment of renal function, chronic liver disease, cardiac failure and recent myocardial infarction. History of, or states associated with, lactic acidosis such as shock or pulmonary insufficiency, alcoholism (acute or chronic), and conditions associated with hypoxemia. Pancreatitis.
