I am due for a colonoscopy procedure in two days! Dr. has prescribed Fleet Phospho Soda, but the Clinic's Pharmacist has given me "Fleet Enema" to open & use for cleansing (2 doses of 45ML within 12 hours)? Is the formula same and oral administration allowed? I also take Coversyl 5ML for hypertension. Isn't the sodium in fleet enema counterindicated? Yousef Male, 56-year-old in UAE. Your earliest response appreciated!

Go back to the pharmacy, or phone them. They have either given you the wrong product - or you misunderstood and thought you were going to be given an oral laxative. (Enemas are frequently used to clear the bowels before a procedure)
The enema should only be used rectally, not orally.

Some doctors want you to use an oral laxative and the enema to make sure you are really cleaned out so they can see the tissue better. Definitely call the doctor too to make sure they didn't leave one of the meds off by accident, double check pharmacy to make sure they didn't accidently skip one either. No you can not take and enema by mouth.

I went back, the pharmacist claimed he had Dr's agreement to dispense the Enema as it is the same formula and Fleet Oral is not currently available in the market here. However, calling a few pharmacies I managed to get the two doses I need anyway!
Great that it is all sorted!
The pharmacist probably should have explained that he was giving you an enema but it is ok to take it by mouth.
