Ditropan usually doesn't affect the kidneys to cause pain so I would mention it to the doctor to make sure nothing else is going on. One of the main side effects is fluid retention so be on the look out for that. Here are some other side effects to watch for: dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, hallucinations, weakness, blurred vision, constipation, dry mouth, nausea/vomiting, hot flashes, rashes and impotence just a few from my PDR so take care and hope it works for you it has been on the market for a long time. marjorie zych
