My finger was red and swollen after cut, the swab result is staphylococus aureus infection. Can bactroban ointment be applied to the area to help healing?

It depends on how severe the infection is. Generally you are probably best to take oral antibiotics rather than using a topical ointment.
Having said that the Bactroban may be sufficient provided the infection is not severe.
You are best to follow the advice of your doctor.

I have an immune problem I realize what works for one person does not always with the other I have used this and an oral one in combination Bactroban was one they used on me when I developed MRSA it took a lot of hard work but it along with other treatment got rid of it best wishes

I'm not sure what kind of immune problem you have, but I just read that Clindamycin combined with Bactroban is the leading treatment for "tough" super-bugs like MRSA. I have an Immune Deficiency (CVID - primaryimmune.org) and so far taking Clindamycin every 6 hours along with bactroban 3 times a day has really helped. Along with CVID I have Ehlers-Danlos, which leaves my skin easily torn.
I hope you've found the treatment that your doctor feels is the best for you.
(I'm not a doctor, don't play one on TV, but have been sick since 2 yrs old, and am armed with Nursing books..lol)
