... night or day. It has been labled "palpitations" But no one seems to know how to treat it. I am wondering if it could be a side effect of Metformin, or Glipizide. I take these for diabetes.
Can anything be done about hearing your heart beat in your head so loud that you can't escape it?

Unfortunately Glipizide could cause fast heartbeat or heart palpitations as one of its many side effects, if you do think that its too bothersome, please talk to the doc who prescribed the med to perhaps give you a more suitable med to suit your system.
Please do take care, be safe & well.

Good day to you Rajive! How are you? Hope all is well with you just stopping by to leave a comment and also a short answer, Have a great day!
I was not on but the Metiformin, I think the other he is right about causing the fast heart rate but I don't know about you I had to take the Metiformin for about 3 weeks before the stomach cramps and stomach ache would go away, I took food without food, it really didn't seem to matter, I would do as he suggests just inform your doctor about this and see if this will go away or if he needs to find something different, I wish you the very best and hope you are able to either get this to stop or find another med that helps. do take good care, I wish you the very best
Hi, This is Betty from Virginia. Years ago, before having diabetes, I saw heart doctor because of the loud heart beating and palpitations. He said my heart was fine, but since I have heart trouble running in my family, I always err on the cautious side. The heart beating would keep me awake even... He put me on Metoprolol Succinate, 50mg and it did the trick... and even since being a diabetic and taking Metformin, I still am fine. I take one pill at bedtime... Seems to work great for me... So ask your doctor and maybe he/she will refer you to a heart doctor if you don't already have one.
Good Luck and Best Regards, Betty
