I am on a daily dose of methadone for drug rehab and I want to undergo gastric bypass surgery. I am afraid that when I tell the surgeon about my situation he will then tell me that I have to be off of the methadone to have the surgery otherwise they will not be able to manage my pain during and/or after the surgery. Any thoughts???

I am currently on methadone, and have 2 surgeries while on methadone/ rehab for oxy addiction. and i was given morphine/oxy for the surgery pain. so they will work with you. If you are taking methadone for rehad therapy, you will need to take methadone for than once a day for pain. So they can always give you extra throughout the day for pain. I hope this helps.
