... still have them plus prostate operation etc. I decided 8 weeks ago I was no longer me. here I sit drained, have not had a single pill but I am still weak suffering many of the syptoms that associate with withdrawal. I know going cold turkey was wrong. I was taking 200 mgs per day of the OXtcotin for years. before that, any pain pill you have heard of.
I never asked question, is there anything over the counter that might help me. I need to fly to Australia soon, I cant make it. Am I just in the home stretch or can I find something to take that will help me? Thank you so much, my life was meaningless and I am trying so hard. So many people depend on me.
I truly appreciate whatever suggestions you might have.

Hey Coby,
If it has been 8 weeks since you took any oxycontin and are still suffering withdrawal symptoms, I think you need to talk to a doctor. You are probably suffering from Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome (PAWS). You can read about PAWS at the following:
http://addictionsandrecovery.org/post-acute-withdrawal.htm
The are medications such as antidepressants that can help you through this period of withdrawal. I highly recommend talk therapy and drug therapy until you are able to function effectively again.
Best wishes,
Laurie

First of all thank you for your response. The only one, I am very grateful you cared enough. I hope to one day be a help and an influence on someone in a similar situation. I agree the paws will be a problem for a long time. But, my symptoms are physical. I have many pills and I have NO desire to take them. I have been on xanax for sometime now. My mind is committed I am just wondering why I still have upset stomach and have to go to the bathroom many times during the day. I did call a DR. he thinks a 2mg strip of suboxone might be the answer for awhile. This I am afraid of. Suppose to meet him friday. Remember I discontinued taking the OXYs on my own against my Dr's advice, taper down was the way to go. To me that would have been long and drawn out. Now I must admit it may have been a mistake. I did get through it. I am working , have been missed maybe a week total. Just NOOOOOO energy, appetite, and the previous mentioned problems.
Hey Coby,
You are very welcome. Taking a low dose of Suboxone may help. Just realize that you will eventually have to taper off the Suboxone. Don't think you'll need more than a max of 4 mgs a day since it has been 8 weeks since you had any oxycontin. If you have questions about Suboxone you can call the manufacturer and ask them questions at 1 877 SUBOXONE. Might make you feel a little less scared.
I'm here for you,
Laurie
Well I did what you recommneded. I am on a 2mg per day dose of the Suboxone. I feel fine, better then ever. In fact I was able to golf for the first time in months. It even seems to take away most of the pain in my kidneys where my stones and other problems are. I will not lie, I am scared about the withdrawals when I face that day again. The Dr. assures me the 2 mgs per day is a very low dose and we are going to get me though a couple of months at this level then taper down and get off it entirely as soon as possible. We will be meeting often to talk about therapy and a plan. I know PAWS is very real and though my mind and resolve are powerful, so is the PAWS apparently more pwerful then people realize. I wanted so bad to kick this cold turkey but I suffered much too long. The suboxone dose is small compared to many other patients he treats and he is confident enough to tell me NOT to worry so much about the withdrawals. I thank you so much for your advise.

Hey Coby,
You have made my day!! I am so glad that you are feeling better. You sound like you have a good doctor. Trust him to get you through this. When you are ready to taper off the Suboxone, you'll do fine so don't even worry about that right now. Enjoy life just for today!!
Laurie
Thank you very much for you help. I am gettign by on the 2mgs per day. I feel ok, just waiting till next month to start the tapering program off them. I am very grateful for your assisatnce , it is aweome that you are here to help people.
Thank you with all my heart~!!!
Coby
Awe, you are welcome Coby and I'm glad you are doing well. When it is time to taper, we are here to support you all the way.
Thank you very much. I am going to do it and i am certainly going to let you know when I start. I want to start tomorrow but I just can't be sick right now. Is it an excuse ? I dont really know but so much is going on with my work I have to be here and 100% for a couple of months. Everyday I stick that 2mg suboxone strip in my mouth I feel guilty and I know I am making the withdrawal process worse when I start it. I feel absolutely nothing off it I just do not feel sick. I never ever took the pills to feel high, I still have a bunch of them if i wanted a high. So I do not miss the high at all. I know my body is different and i know I would not yawn as much and have way more engery if i was on the oxys. I also know how awful they are and the 8 weeks of hell I went through when I stopped taking them. Maybe I have issues mentally and need therapy, I do not know, do not feel like it. My problem was physical and it went away with the Suboxone.

The Dr I am seeing is a Phycologist and he thinks I took the Oxys so long I need the suboxne for awhile to off set the withdrawals. I hope he is right. I still have pain, but no desire to take anything for it. I am so grateful to have someone to talk to about this, you have no idea. I appreciate with all my heart your support and i will keep you posted if you do not mind.
Have a tremendous day!
Coby
Please keep me posted Coby. I don't recommend being anxious to get off the Suboxone. I recommend for you to be on it for 3 to 6 months is what my doctor says. You will know when it is time to taper. You are on a low dose and will have little trouble tapering when it is time. Dispense with the guilt. It isn't serving any purpose anyway. I'm glad to hear that you are seeing a psychologist. Therapy can be very beneficial for all of us. I'm here for you.
