I've been taking it for two days and I get a lot of diarrhea. I've been drinking a ton of water and it seems like the water makes the diarrhea even worse. Could the medicine possibly be causing me to dehydrate? Or am I drinking too much water (3 liters a day, morning, noon and night)? Is it possible to drink too much water? My skin is flaky and dry and I try to keep hydrated because it's been so hot, but I go to the bathroom so much, I'm concerned I might be doing some damage to my body.

Yikes, are you taking the Bisacodyl because you were constipated? It is a stimulant laxative, and you will have lots of diarrhea and dehydration if you keep taking it. Water can also make the diarrhea worse, particularly if you are not eating sufficient meals several times a day. But, to answer your question about too much water, Yes, it's possible to drink too much water. And yes, the medicine can definitely dehydrate you by causing the diarrhea.

Thanks for the advice. I was drinking water for the same reason--to lose weight. Because I hadn't had a BM in almost a week, I took the Bisacodyl. I was also on this low-calorie diet that the doctor told me to quit immediately, as it was insufficient for my needs.
I cut back on the water and stopped the medicine. My doctor also advised me against the cleanse I was going to do and told me to eat balanced meals and exercise instead. It turns out I'm deficient in a lot of nutrients, so he prescribed me a multivitamin. He also told me to drop out of my diet group and stop searching for quick weight-loss tips. Turns out those women had eating disorders and I didn't even realize it.
Yep, live and learn, huh?! Well, good for you. I guess there are really no short, easy answers to the dieting solution... I figure it took me a while to get here, and I've certainly had a "rich" eating experience during my life, so it won't hurt me to cut back on the wrong things, and try to eat the right foods. Just had an esophagogastroduodenoscopy, and there was a stricture where the stomach empties, so I think that was causing the last 2 months of extreme weight gain! No fun. Good luck, and sounds like you were on the right track from the start! Jillian
