Are Xanax (Alprazolam) and Suboxone safe to take together... are there any adverse side effects?

THE WARNINGS ON SUBOXONE SAY,benzo's should not be taken by anyone who is not benzo tolorent already. but if you were on benzo's before you started taking sub then you should be ok. but talk it over with your doctor.my doctor and my insurence company both know that i'm on 20mg of suboxone and 3 mg of alprazolam.If those 2 drugs are helping you then talk with your doctor and your nurse case manager and tell them that they the right combo of meds.there will be no problem... pete

Well there is very small to moerate risk specially since your body is use to Xanax already too!!! Im on 16mg of Suboxone Films and 3mg of Xanax XR and 100mg of Pristiq a day and ive had NO adverse side effects like feeling nasuated, or slow breathing or dizzy or high at all!!! Of course everyone is diffrent and has a diffrent reaction to meds. If you abuse Xanax and take to much then the risk increases of you stop breathing so DO NOT ABUSE XANAX WHILE TAKING Suboxone take your Xanax only like your doctor describes!!! Suboxone saved my life from Oxy and is truly a awesome med unlike Metadone which still makes you feel high and when you fel high you have a altered look on life unlike Suboxone which just makes me feel normal!!! I'm a newbie to Suboxone. I just started it 3 days ago and am on 16 mg a day. I am also on 6 mg of Xanax a day (2 mg 3x a day) my sub dr knows and even tho I heard of a lot of risks he told me if I take everything appropriately I would be ok. I'm still in the early stages and having a lot of weird drowsy/woozy side effects and just started taking Xanax after 2 days cuz I wasn't comfortable with my breathing when I first started the Subs. But I feel ok but DEFINITELY recommend u take EVERYTHING as prescribed and be 100% honest with your doc because all the research I've done including talking to nurses and pharmacists say they r a dangerous combo. I'm taking it slow and don't forget that every body is different! Good luck!

It is very dangerous to take both these drugs together. You can become very disoriented and cause sleep walking and blackouts.

I am on the same 2 things. My dr says not to take it within 4 hours of eachother and it will b fine but it has to be four hours or more

I had a friend die from mixing these.. however, from Feb to May I was prescribed 2 sub (8mg 2mg) a day, and during that time I was heavily abusing the xanax, 6 to 14 mg per day, whatever I could afford.. I guess I got lucky bc I am answering this question.. I am an average girl, age 28, 5'8", 115 lbs.. well I guess I am on the smaller side.. still, if u choose to mix, only do a small dose.. best to stick to the sub only.. unless otherwise directed.

this morning my second day of suxboxone i took my dose of 8mg and then shortly after ide say twenty minutes i took xanax and vomited. horribly. so most definetly wait a bit before you take both
