I've been using Valsartan for 3 years and my HBP has been under control and stable. My Dr. switched me to Cozaar without consultation and I'm concerned!
Are Valsartan and Cozaar identical drugs; both equally effective for controling HBP?

No, they are not identical but they are similar. They both belong to the same class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
The active ingredient in Cozaar is losartan.
It is unusual that your doctor has changed your meds without consultation or reason.
He / she may have made a mistake. I would call your doctor and check if a change in medicine was intended.
