I take 150mg of Anafranil with 10mg of Zyprexa. Other than the fact that i hardly pick my lips than i used to, my ocd and anxiety is still there. The only thing my psych doc has been doing is raise my zyprexa from 5mg then to 7.5mg and now 10mg.
Im not sure whether i should ask her to raise the anafranil to 200-250mg or take a different medication.
I used to take Zoloft two years and out of 5 medications it was the first and only one that worked for me but then it stopped after two years.
Anyone here takes Anafranil or has taken it - need help here?

Hello empire5sb. Anafranil is one of the most successfull and older drugs to treat OCD. It works well as a combination in that it treats anxiety as well as OCD. Its a cylic antidepressant and does take close to four weeks to work at a theraputic level. I would increase it to 300mg and believe you'll be feeling the results as positive. Regards pledge

Zoloft and Prozac did not work for me but Anafranil is doing what no other drug succeeded in doing at a dose of 150-200mg, only minor OCD meltdowns. anxiety levels way down and sleeping real good (though night terrors come and go). Medication is hit and miss, what works for some folks don't work for others - body chemistry. I am now back at work so and coping and feeling a whole lot better.
