Anyone had to detox from Kadian/Percocet being a type 1 diabetic?

Is he planning to detox because he is better after his surgeries or does he just feel it is time to come off the drugs? I'm not sure what you mean by his being at the ceiling with Kadian. Kadian is morphine and morphine has no ceiling effect. It can go as high in dose as you need as long as the person is not limited by side effects. Did the Dr tell him he cant prescribe higher or is your husband at the highest dose he can have without bad side effects? I truly hope he is doing this because he is better after surgery and no longer needs the medication! I would be so envious!! I'm not one of the experts on detox. Hopefully Pattishan can answer this one-she is great with this subject and so is Laurie Shay! I do want to say that as a diabetic, he will have to be sure to taper slowly especially if he gets into withdrawal symptoms that effect his appetite like nausea/vomiting or even diarrhea.

He will need to watch his sugars carefully and often so he doesnt bottom out in the event of those kinds of withdrawal symptoms. That would be one of the main concerns that a diabetic would have over anyone else when detoxing.
