I do not know how much you are taking or how long or what other meds if any. I had cold sweats, hearing sounds that weren't there, delusion, lightheadedness, weird dreams, no appetite, extreme stomach upset and more. The only way is with the help of a Dr. Hope this helps.

When I came off of an oxycontin addiction and then later a percocet/vicodin addiction I had to go to my primary doc and get a 3-way wean down to get through the withdrawl which was a living hell ... Oxzazepam (Serax) at bedtime for sleep, Methadone, and a blood pressure patch called Catapress since my blood pressure was sky rocketing due to the withdrawl ... I would not go this alone ... way to hard ... there are meds out there to help you :) You can get through this ... I have done it TWICE ... no fun ... hugs!
Balb & Sand thank you for your feed back. I took xanax for 25 yrs and used valium to taper off following instructions from professor Heather Ashton from the UK. It took me 18 months to come off of xanax, then valium. I have had these horrid painful tingles 24/7 every since my last valium in 2010 and was curious if anyone has heard of protracted w/d lasting this long? The neurologist hasn't a clue. I thought if anyone knew of this ever happening I would be able to have my neurologist investigate it further. Thank you again.
Odd, Xanax and Valium are very close, I'm a bit taken aback by that method. I would indeed have the Neuro seek further. Best to you!
Yes the two are both benzos. The reason behind taking the valium is, because valium has a long half life also it's very difficult to taper off the xanax after 25 yrs. I think this may be what's happening to me with the protracted w/d, because I was on 80 mg of valium for so long it screwed up my cns. Oh well I am still looking for answers for this unbearable pain.
