I took my first shot last week I had extreme pain muscles nerves bones even my skin hurt from a soft breeze this went on for about 12hrs along with 101 fever and 4 hrs of vomiting I take my next one tomarrow so id like to know has anyone else had this reaction and is it true after a few months these side effects will go away? I an in pain all the time but this increased it by about 10x what is was felt as if I was in a car crusher any advise? Thank you litlmommag-jaime

I am so very sorry that you feel so horrible!
My SIL was on Avonex for quite a while, I shall make a phone call and ask her about it. She is asleep right now, so I must wait until the morning. So sorry that I have to wait so long to answer you!!
She desperately needs her sleep, as I'm sure you understand.

I agree with von and Lara and hope you get to talk to someone asap for what you are going through,i hope you find relief soon with something that will work right for you,i know how hard it is dealing with pain,never mind the side effects that you have to suffer while undergoing treatment!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and i hope you find good results from the meds soon.

I have just taken my 7th avonex shot for the first its been 2 and a half hrs and I'm only having slight pain in my fnigers alittle pressure in my chest and the left side of my jaw hurts a little. Felt some what nauses the first hr but no vomitting. Not bad I hope it stays like this I can toleratw this. Of course I took all my pain meds ahead of time and an aleeve. I'm hoping the problem was more due to the ms attack. I've also have my b12 shot in the last week so that may of helped to thank you for your advise I may nt of got treated at the hosp for th ms attack without it. My neurologist new what it was the er said from the medicine the neuro said to many symptoms to be the avonex I had a week of steroids 1 hr a day through iv. I feel much better thank you friends you are my lifesaver{id send you a pack if I could} lol I hope I can

Call your pharmacist or doctor RIGHT NOW, could this be a possible allergic reaction to Avonex? If you cannot reach a pharmacist nor your doc, call your local ER and tell someone what's going on!!

I have a shot I'm gonna take tomarrow I'm gonna see if it is the same again first I thought its very strong meds body gotta get use to it but if I get the same reaction ill have my hubby call the nurse right away..thank you again

I never thought it could be an allegric reaction since they mention all the flu like symptoms so I am gonna call in the morning before I take the shot and ask the avonex nurse to make sure its not you are right always better to be safe than sorry later! Thanks litlmmmag-

I definatly will thank you fr your prayers ill be praying for you as well. I was just looking at unanswered questions and there was a pst about topamax someones mm prescribed for and she is having some side effect they are asking about and I'm so glad they are reaching out because I looked up the side effects and seen a warning her side effects need immediate med attention I hope they get my post and take her to the er having seizurs are bad enough without these hrrible side effects please pray for her as well. Id appreciate that. I hope he let's me know how she is cause I'm worried... hope we all have better days and good health litlmommag-

I just got off the phone with my sister in law, she said DO NOT take your next shot until you speak to the doctor, not a nurse. Also if you were having one side effect that would be OK, but you are having entirely too many issues with Avonex!! Please call your doc!!

I took my shot at 2:30. I d feel better than I did with the last shot. This time I took all my medications for pain like prescribed 1 extra narco though I still have pain but not as extreme I took 2 aleves so I don't have a fever my ac is on very low to control that no vomiting this time but only ate 2 mini double chocolate doughnuts figure if I was sick id rather be sick with that it was very scary at first not knowing what was gonna happen the first time didn't want to take other meds afraid if that reaction but the drs were right they are helping me through!!! you all are too!!! Thank you so much for being here my hubby was absolutly right it is so great to have someone who understands how hard day today can be for all of us but laura,von,mary ect..all of you make me have better days your support and trying to help yu when I can makes my day joyful thank you again best wishes to all of you

I had awful flu like symptoms for the first 2 days for the first 2 years on Avonex. Now I take Advil or Aleve an hour before I do my shot-usually around 5 pm, then I sleep through the worst of it. I feel achy in morning but by noon aches are gone & the cloud lifts. I took Avonex 8 years, than I tried Tysabri for 2 years but had too many side effects. Back on Avonex!
