I have SLE and was just dx with Devics Disease (there is more and more of a belief that Devics is not MS, which was a common thought). I'm on Copaxone, but my Rheumatologist and Neurologist got together and are thinking Imuran might be a better way to go (2 birds with one stone?). Devics was dx'd due to intermittent loss of vision on 3 occasions and presence of Nmo Igg antibody. I have the SLE for 16 years.
Thanks, Larry

I've been taking Imuran for 10 years at 100mg/day. I've not noticed any side effects. Apparently, the most serious side effect of long term use of Imuran is some forms of cancer. I've been told that's not a worry for me (based on cumulative dosage) for 20 years.
Depending on your age and expected Imuran dosage, this may or may not be a factor for you.
More information can be found by inputing "Imuran side effects" to google.com.
