Hey proudmama,
Part of your question got cut off. I wanted to share what the recommended dosage of codeine for cough is:
Usual Pediatric Dose for Cough
2-6 years: 2.5 to 5 mg orally every 4 to 6 hours.
Maximum 30 mg/day.
6-12 years: 5 to 10 mg orally every 4 to 6 hours.
Maximum 60 mg/day.
As you can see, it does not give a dosage for a child of only 6 months.
Pediatric dosage of codeine for pain is:
Usual Pediatric Dose for Pain
>=1 years: 0.5 mg/kg or 15 mg/m2 orally, IM, or subcutaneously every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
Again it does not give a dosage for a child as young as 6 months.
If the baby's doctor prescribed the tylenol with codiene, and you want the conversion for the baby's size, please tell me how much the baby weighs. I will calculate for you. If the doctor didnot prescribe, then please do not give a child of this age codeine.
Sorry that you question got cut off. If you want to post more, you can add to your question by hitting comment.
Best wishes,
Laurie

I know they have over the counter tylenol for various things in liquid and I would guess they have a dosing chart of what age and how much you give and maybe even by the childs weight, they also have Tyleno with codeine elixir but of course that has to be prescribed and a child's doctor would be aware of the circumstances. I am afraid I haven't been any help to you but even if you called and talked with a pharmacist he should be able (even if he had to pull the bottle of the shelf and look he would be able to tell you here is what I've found children age 12 640mg every 4 to 6 hours children age 11: 480mg every 4 to 6 hours, children ages 9 to 10: 400mg orally every 4 to 6 hours. children 6 to 8 years: 320mg every 4 to 6 hours children 4 to 5: 240mg every 4 to 6 hours children ages 2 to 3 160mg every 4 to 6 hours children 12-23 months: 120mg every 4 to 6 hours.
I apologize when looking at your post I didn't see that you were talking about Tyleno elixir with codeine if the child is this young and has been seen there should be directions written by the doctor, I am unsure what the dosing schedule is for tylenol with codeine elixir for that age child, it's better to be safe than sorry, I know Laurie knows what she is talking about but I have concerns about has a doctor see and evaluated this baby and if so he should have placed directions on the bottle. I don't mean to sound rude or harsh I am just concerned. I didn't mean to offend you.
Just to clarify, the above dosages that caringsonbj mentioned are for tylenol not for the codeine.

Hi there laurie. Goodmorning. Its a beautifull day here. Low humidity, sun is out, (what else is new ha!) mind you its been dry. Little in the way of rain fall. Yes, if I could have some of that danish, I hear its becoming famous throughout the costal area. Between your danish and my coffee we are in the drivers seat.Well, time to water the vegetable plants, then take the dogs for there morning walk. Have a great friend, oh, theres still plenty of coffee if you care to have a second cup.
Thank you Pledgy. It was delicious!! Must be off to work, Hi ho Hi ho, off to work I go!! Enjoy your day!!
Don't mind if I do Pledge - the coffee and Danish are superb, as usual. We are off to another hot day here along the Chesapeake Bay, but I hear we are going up to 101 on Thursday. Our air conditioning people tell us that a heat pump with air conditioning is only supposed to cool the air 20degrees cooler than the air outside - so on a 101 degree day the coolest our house is 81 degrees. Now how can that be? And we even have a small window a/c unit in the bedroom that cools that room. Horse pucky is what I say! 8o degrees is too hot for me!
Goodmorning ElizaJane. I know, the coffee is great and danish are out of this world. Now I hate to be the bearer of ... bad? wrong word perhaps, but it is true. Thats the way a heat-pump works. It cools in that manner. Much the same as it heats your home in the winter. We had a heatpump in our home in Florida, and it was exactly the way you describe yours, as in the cooling department. Our home here has centreal(typo) air, but its straight a/c. We had it serviced last month and to be honest, it cools much the same as a heat/pump. I know, a friend of mine, here, in our area, has a heat-pump, and was complaining about it during the winter, the high utility bills, and the home never really becoming that toasty warm. We put ourselves on a plan, so we don't have those massive power bills.

Our problem is our dogs, they really suffer, and since they stay inside, we tend to keep it, the temperature around 74, but the a/c is of course, working its heart out, seldom shuts off, only in the late evening and during the night hours (of course, then, they are sound asleep) Well, written another novel here.
