vtech10, I do not know a whole lot about irregular menstrual cycles. I do know it isn't anything to hope it gets better. Losing that much blood first off could deplete your iron alot. You wouldn't want to get anemic. I would say make an appointment with you ob/gyn ASAP! I don't know your age but I started menopause extremely early ( about 41 yrs old) that was one symptoms I had fron the beginning. Please go to your doctor and let the front desk know why you are coming so they can be prepared to make a proper diagnosis.I wish you the best of luck Fall Queen
thanks fall queen i have been a severe nemic- i beleive i am starting menopause, i made an appt with o/b quite frankly i am simply afraid of another pill being pushed in my face--- in 2004 i had the bleeding issue, primary doc said it was due to stress--- o/b always said everything looked ok, had last child in 2005--- bled thru pregnancy after delivery they said everything ok, march--april it occurred again they said possible menopause but most likely due to stress-- so i realize stress causes issues for me by the time doctors get involved its over--- and its not heavy either-its just on--continuously into the next month--- now its may where is it--- o/b does not know what to do with me my test come back ok... so i am just talking about it in case something was missed out of the situation--- vtech10
vtech10, I am happy to hear you are taking this seriously, once a problem starts on your reproductive organs it can move swiflty. That is not to say anything is wrong, but better safe than sorry. I did not take anyhing for the symptoms ( like hot flashes etc.) All I know is my cycle became irregular one month it would last over a week, sometimes I didn't even have one, I can always talk to you in private about some other symptons that may begin a little further down the road. Keep your chin up though all these things are proof that we are women and so much more complicated and intricate than a man. Celebrate as long as things are noy serious, meaning just another life cycle of a women. Goodd Luck Fall Queen

I notice you mentioned that you may be in menopause or peripause and the extended bleeding may definitely be a symptom of either. Once you get to the ob/gyn, you probably will get an answer on whether you are in menopause and I know you aren't thrilled at more pills, replacement hormones may treat this issue for you and clear it up.
pattishan61 and fall queen i really appreciate your info, i joined this group really as a means to communicate life issues and i knew i was not by myself, i have learned as well there are a slew of issues many folks have and that its world wide, i almost feel like my load, my cross i am carrying seems like a small bag of beans compared to others , yet its mine and mine alone-i am thankful to be alive many close calls in my life, again thanks for looking out vtech10
Any kind of heavy bleeding can contribute to anemia. When a patient has anemia, we try to stem the heavy menstrual flow and prescribe an iron supplement. Depending on the severity of the situation we may choose from a range of progesterone therapy options along with diet and exercise modifications to help rebalance the hormonal equation.

Wow you recieved many responses on this question that's good cause if anyone else is curious this pretty much clears up their question huh. Well for my two cents I definantly can say it's not unheard of and thank god you are okay you are right to be concerned that is some pretty scary stuff. I agree with everyone go to your ob/gyn but I would have to concider this a stress situation and ativan or xanax would help alot just keep it in consideration. I know you don't care to take more pills than you already do but it would help and not hurt. Good Luck vtech10:).
hey you guys lets be clear here, i am in late 40s, i am have been all my life a severe nemic always, had 5 kids i bled from 4th month on delivered 34weeks, my anemia affects everything, regular menstruals were normal never heavy, only stress induced, whether simple pulling of teeth, to open wound i am and have effected, this thing is new i was told i was possibly starting the meopause thing, all children were born naturally, last 2 children were in my 40's so now can you imagine, with he last child there was an output of 2 or more liters of blood, and that was not the delivery-they had blood transfusion on stand-by, so i wanted to give you guys my history, stress is a factor at this time in my life, really i want to go back to work but physically, heart issues, other serious stuff and really i just havent accepted the new me, i am still trying to adjust--can anone understand this-its not a life crisis, but it feels like one,
Okay now breath you certainly have lived a full and successful life and you got some beautiful children in the process congrats way to go mommy. Now that I am aware of your age menopause is definantly a possibility those hours you worked though can stress anyone out and it sounds like you have to have a fight with yourself everyday. I think you are doing a great job just take a seat and breath for a minute take two if you have to it sounds like you rushing yourself take your time in getting back to your normal routine. Stress can sometime's break a person down to nothing when your ready get back on your feet and try again.
