Started taking Anastrozole 3/25/11. Since 3/30/11 I have had severe pain in lower left abdomen. Been to several doctors (cancer, primary, gastro, hosp ER) but none can determine the cause of pain. Some said it was constipation, which I was having trouble with, but now stool is soft and still having severe pain.
Finally, this month, July, the pain has eased some but still painful and now my left side is hurting higher up as well.
Could this be a side effect or allergic reaction to the Anastrozole? No one seems to have any answers.

Hey Kaye,
It is possible that this is a side effect of the Anastrazole. For a list of side effects go to:

Abdominal pain occurs in 8 % of the people studied on Anastrazole. I'm surprised the cancer doctor hasn't mentioned this. I would discuss with him/her further.

I did discuss this with cancer doctor and he said it couldn't be the medicine! I did read that pain and constipation are side effects of the med but it didn't say it would be this severe and last so long.
