I have been making honeycomb at home with the kids and it uses golden syrup, sugar and bicarb soda, since ive been making it i have been getting rashes all over my body and severe ones around my eyes, and they are all severely swollen. How can i fix the swollen eyes and rashes around them? Im using dermeze on my rashes on my eyes, dermaid on the rest of my rashes, im using telfast and also now a ointment for the inside of my eyes,none of this seems to be fixing the problem or even making it better! What do i do?!

Are you sure it is the bicarb that is doing it? Is golden syrup honey? You could be having a reaction to something in the honey would be my guess but other than avoiding these substances in the future, it is not important. Be careful when using stuff around the eyes. I'm not familiar with Dermeze. It is best not to use anything around or in the eyes that wasnt made especially for use around the eyes. Have you tried taking a systemic antihistamine like 50mg of Benedryl? That should stop the reaction from getting any worse and help with the itching and discomfort. You can use cold compresses to your eyes to help with the swelling. If your mouth, tongue or throat feels like it is swelling you need to not fool around and call 911. If the Benedryl doesnt seem to be helping I would advise you to be evaluated either in the ER or by your primary care Dr if you can see him same day. Stay out of the honeycomb business and leave it to the bees! :)
