I have nerve damage in my feet brought on by type 2 diabetes does this med work on the pain?

I've been fighting Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy for ten years now, I too have severe pain in both lower legs and feet. I also have lost all sensory feeling in both legs and feet. I have tried numerous medications for treatment of the pain. My current treatment does include 25 mg of Amatriptyline, twice daily. I've been using it in conjunction with Narcotic pain medicines. I started with Noratryptiline and the side effects were severe in my case. My doctor switched me to Amitryptaline and I find the results are a lot better. It does help me getting to sleep as well as helps numbing the pain somewhat. In the ten years I've been trying to beat this thing, I have come to one conclusion. So far, nothing alone or in combination will completely eradicate the pain, but it does help by making the pain bearable. It's still a day to day battle. Good luck with your treatment...
