Took 8 mcg bid and it immediately helped. 1-2 healthy movements daily. Then it abruptly stopped working after about a week. Switched to 24 mcg bid and it still didn't work. Taking 24 mcg bid for a week now and have not had a movement. No nausea or headache side effects, as I always take it with a full meal.

I really can't explain why Amitiza has stopped working for you. Your doctor may be able to explain ... or maybe they have seen cases where Amitiza has stopped working for others.

I have chronic constipation... was prescribed 24mcg 2 times daily..started taking it friday today is Sunday and I have still not been able to have a bowl movement..does anybody knw why it aint helping...
