I still have knee pain after surgery for a meniscus tear and chipped patella. Pain ranges from a 2 to a 4 on a scale from 1-10, especially being aggravated when I do a light jog for just 2 miles. Even though the pain isn't that bad, I have a lot of weight to lose and I want to get back to a normal physical activity level without feeling anything in my knee. The aggravation is preventing me from running harder and longer. I've never had knee problems before the surgery. I have fibromyalgia, so that might be why my pain is still there, even a year after recovering from surgery. Should I proceed with the Sinvisc injection? Just trying to decide whether or not it's even worth the bother. I don't care about the money. Looking for advise from anyone....Thanks in advance! ~ Sahara

Synvisc injections have helped me quite a few times and has relieved pain even though I also have have fibromyalgia. Other suggestions to use whether or not you get synvisc inj-don't jog hard on joint use other less stressfull type exercise fast walking, swimming, etc......and just like I and most of us need to do to help us lose weight-easier said than done-but we gotta keep working on our goal!! Good Luck!!
I never had Synvisc injections, but I did have a similar drug called Hyalgan injected into both of my knees due to chronic pain from meniscus tears. I had a series of 6 injections over a 12 month period, and had 90% relief from the pain. Over a 3 year period, I received the injections as needed and each time it helped. Since I'm currently without insurance I can no longer afford them and I'm really suffering.
Synvisc-One is now available where only one injection can provide up to 6 months of relief because it lubricates and cushions your joints. It may be worth a try. Go to synviscone.com for more information on their product and a free knee pain assessment report. Best of luck.
