Anyone have any information on an alternate source for IV Bactrim during the current shortage? Have an ICU patient w/PCP, MDs reluctant to use Pentam due to cardiac side effects. Atovaquone/primaquine and Bactrim suspensions not felt to be reliably absorbed given pts current status. No investigational protocols open that I could see. No info on CDC or NIH website either. Would appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

This is a very hard question answer, even Doctors have to out weigh the consequences with the side effects. Intravenous drugs are stronger and act much quicker than the oral route, after also checking the NIH and the CDC
They also have no clear answer on this topic either. Which is scary when you think about it, I'm sorry I cannot be of more help for you however I wish you much luck, I hope someone more seasoned than I am that can help you, looks like a lot of reseach needs be done on this subject!
Bless You, and good luck
