The patient has a prosthetic eye and has the appearance of an infection with a greenish execudate and Akne-Mycin has been prescribed. Is this an appropriate use of this medication? Should it be placed behind the prothesis?

I'm really not sure. It is definitely not an eye ointment, but since that eye has a prosthetic eye, it might not be a problem. I realize this answer is a bit late but hopefully you confirmed use with your doctor.
