I am experiencing several headaches a week having to take my maxalt medication all the time again just like before I started taking the topiramate. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Some say it may be the generic brand and that it sometimes is made in weaker batches. Should I ask my doctor to switch me to the topamax?
After 3 months, it feels as though the topiramate has stopped working. Has this happened to anyone?

I do not take that medication, but my brother did and he experienced some of the same things you are. I wouls suggest to talk to your doctor about the headaches and make sure to mention that you started taking Maxalt again. Most doctors wouls switch you after a few weeks, so I'm sure he will change either your medication, tell you to stop taking the Maxalt, or change your dosage. Hope I've been helpful!

thanks for your comment. i have been always taking the maxalt as my prn breakthrough medication and my md is aware and it is safe although only recently i just had to take it more often than usual out of no where as if the medication was not working when i picked up a new bottle at the drug store. i did talk this over with him and he feels that it may have been that particular generic batch and that he does see that happen sometimes. i actually am weaning off of this med anyway secondary to too many of the cognitive effects for me. thanks so much for your time. come to find out my migraines were stemming from eating gluten and msg. i have eliminated them from my diet and i haven't had a migraine. i went from 6-7 times weekly to not one in over a week. i am still in shock and keeping my fingers crossed. ; )
