Advair Diskus - My son is on advair and he's had 3 critical astma attacks,I'm wondering is this?

Advair is widley used for asthma which I also have, but unfortuneatly cannot use the inhalers as they are all made with milk proteins that cause even worse attacts, & death if you are allergic to milk proteins as I am. You probably need to speak with your childs doctor about this. Is he on any regular asthma med along with the diskus? Symbicort is another newer one that seems to be well accepted in the asthma community. I was told to use albuterol(ventalin) along with the advair when it was first prescribed for me. Good thing I am on top of my problems or I could have died. I told my doctor the albuterol wasn't working, & had just read an ad in a magazine about Advair, & ofcourse he was going to write a script for me for it until I showed him the ad about milk proteins allergies, so he immediately gave me a sample of Symbicort. When I got home, I read the info on it also, & albuteraol said do not use if you are allergic to milk proteins.

Now my doc is an allergy doctor too, & should have known all of this, & knew I was allergic to milk proteins, but didn't know it. I am just warning you that doctors don't have the time to research everything. You have to be very proactive in his or her care. We have a listing above drugs A - Z where you can look up any or all of these drugs. Very easy to use. I will give you the reference for Advair. Lots of kids that have asthma have allergies too. Has your child been tested? May be a good idea. My asthma is seasonal mostly & is brought on in the Fall when leaves are falling from dust, & tree allergies. I just can't breathe. I stay indoors with aircondioning running all the time. I do wish you both the best, but get more proactive with your childs care & do lots of research on the meds etc... Your child may need to be on something else along with the diskus. I take Theopolline, but do not know if they prescribe that for children It really helps me a lot, & only have to take it for about 3 months of the year. I wish you the best. By the way the info I am giving you states that Advair should not be used once an attack is in progress. Please read this thoroughly..Mary632009
