Hi toddcas - They are roughly equivalent, with Ritalin dosage being typically between 5 - 40 mgs/day and Adderall being between 10 - 60 mgs/day, each given in 2 or 3 doses, not to exceed those totals above. But, be sure to check with your Dr. Pharmacists can also be very helpful with this type of information. Also, check with Pharmacist to see if the filler or binder used in the Adderall (Amphetamine Salts) could be the cause of your nausea, if you are taking the generic version because I don't experience that with the Adderall I need to take. Actually, I was switched from the Dextrostat to the Adderall and I never feel anything at all on either one!

Hi again - Just wanted to say I don't have sleep issues because I'm also bipolar and take low dose of Seroquel, which helps with regular sleep. I read your other posts & glad you are experiencing success with treating your ADHD. I've found that structure, discipline & exercise daily all help greatly with mental disorders or dysfunction. Because it can take us an enormous amount of energy to maintain focus, we often fail to complete tasks, among the many other symptoms indicative of ADHD. It helped me to understand that ADHD was not a lack of self-control. My brain is different biologically, developmentally & neurologically. The neurotransmitters in my brain that allow the brain cells to communicate effectively with one another can function more closely to the norm with stimulant medication. Meds. speed up the information processing so that we can focus, settle down & complete things. That's typically why we feel calmer.

When I'm thinking clearer & processing better, I feel more 'normal'. I'm able to handle tasks better, remember my priority lists, take more complex instructions, complete things, stay focused, stay involved in what I'm doing & on task (actually, hyperfocus!). By functioning better, I also regain self-esteem by completing tasks and feeling better about myself. I also greatly enjoy regular cognitive-behavioral counseling with a Psychiatrist. Good luck with all! Jillian
