The mentioned combination is commonly used for headaches and is called Fioricet. The acetominophen is a common pain reliever, the butalbital is a bariturate which relaxes muscles, while the caffeine is a stimulant that also increases blood flow. Therfore this medication is ideal for tension type headaches. Not sure that it compares to other type pain pills such as opiates. It really depends on the source of the pain as to whether it would help.

From talking to Pharmacists there is nothing else thet compares to this combination because it has Butalbital in it. It is used for Migraine and Tension headaches and seems to be very effective. It is the only thing that helps my Migraines. If you have other kinds of pain, you will probobly need some other kind of medication. Talk to your Doctor.. I hope this has answered your question.
