As far as I am aware, throat dryness is not one of the side effects normally associated with Mucinex (guaifenesin).
Dry mouth and throat is more often associated with the use of antihistamines - which are common ingredients in over-the-counter cough and cold preparations. They are used to help dry up the nasal passages.
