Hey Dick,
While technically Tramadol isn't an actual opiate, it is an opioid medication. That means it can be abused and you will get addicted to it if you use it daily for too long. Additionally it has slightly different wds, and the people who have been hooked, say it's harder to quit Tramadol than regular opiates. I find it unbelievable that so many docs don't know Tramadol is addictive, but it's true. Many doc's really don't know Tramadol is addictive. Since you know you are prone to abusing opiates, you should not be given Tramadol neither. The moment you feel yourself losing control with them, just stop taking them. I hope you can do that. If you know you can't do that, then don't take them at all.
Im, not chasing the high anymore, Just trying to use only when the Neck and Back pain are un Godly. ( Once a day only ) In the morning. Not every day
either !!! just started taking it yesterday. Thanks fo info...

I know I answered this question, but it is not showing Tramadol is a horrible drug to be on. First the drug drups have convinced the doctors that this is a good pain med that is non narcotic. WRONG! it isn't until you take it & it reacts chemically in you system as a narcotic would. It can be very addictive. It is also a drug if you are on it & stop it sudenly can cause seizures. Did the other pain meds you used before help your pain? if so why not try them agin? I am giving you a refence to read about tramadol before you strrt taking it. I suggest you copy it & tke it to your doctor. He needs an education & you need pain relief. Just my thoughts... Mary632009

I've had tramodol for pain, 50mg 3 times a day and it didn't work for chronic pain. It did relieve seasonal headaches I had from allergies. Breaking the trust with your doctor is a bad thing for you. Is your doctor a pain management doctor? Some anti depression meds may help you. That hasn't worked for me. But, understand that everybody react differently to medications. I have suffered with chronic low back pain for years and just recently went to a spine care and pain manage center. I've never had relief from any pain meds until I was given Oxycodone 10/325 3 times a day. It takes self discipline to stick to a schedule of meds. My advice is to seek pain management and explain your past addiction. I am positive you will get relief and do the right thing with any meds. Good luck to you and I hope you find this helpful.
