One month it will be super heavy for about 3 days and the next month i'll skip it, and the following month I will spot all month long, I have gone 3 months without a period, then it comes back is that normal? Is this what happens when women go through perimenopause?

This is what going through menopause is all about. You can talk to your gynecologist to see what your options are or you can stick it out. Eventually your periods will space out farther then they will just stop altogether. Remember that you may still be fertile during this time so if you are sexually active and you or your partner havent had tubal ligation or vasectomy then you may still get pregnant. Many women have been known to find themselves pregnant at this stage of life so you may want to discuss this with your GYN. If you are having hot flashes and other uncomfortable symptoms they can give medications to help with the transition.

Yes, Welcome to menopause! Periods irregular, hot flashes, hot sweats, moodiness etc... It can last years. Alot of us have gone through some of these. I have no periods because of hestectomy but I know you can get your periods and then they come and go for years before they stop.
