I take 1 mg lorazepam at night to help me sleep. My mother-in-law just told me she heard it causes azheimers. Any truth to that? I only take the 1 mg at night and I feel fine. No side effects. Been on it about 7 yrs

Hello Moll The Doll. Your mother-in-law is paritially correct. Lorazepam/Ativan when given to the elderly, can cause forgetfullness/memory impairment. That it might cause or help to cause Alzheimer might be a future trial/study for the family of drugs (Benzodiazepine) Regards pledge

Patient not sleeping during day. Has moderate Alzheimers. Actively talking all night, sometime with hallucinations. Dr. ok with increasing either med.
