Medications for Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor

Gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are neuroendocrine tumors that develop in the gastrointestinal tract and can be further defined as foregut, midgut or hindgut tumors. The neuroendocrine cell has both a nerve function and a hormone-producing endocrine function. As they are hormone-producing cells the tumor can produce excessive hormone levels with clinical symptoms of hormonal hypersecretion which is called a functioning tumor. Tumors that do not produce excessive hormone secretion are called non-functioning tumors and are free from the symptoms of hormonal hypersecretion.
