I've had 6 major surgeries but none since 1999. The surgeries caused fistulas. I was treated with Remicade starting in 2001 until 2013. My fistulas closed from 2008-2014. I stopped Remicade treatment because I have bladder problems and got frequent urinary tract infections after infusions. Then in 2014, I developed a fistula and have been suffering ever since. Remicade gave me temporary relief for 1 treatment but 3 months later the fistulas returned. Ever since, Remicade has been ineffective. My illness currently remains active and Humira has been recommended.
I also have low kidney function. Urinary tract infections are treated with antibiotics. Antibiotics are best avoided as treatment not to mention their awful side effects. I was wondering if any Humira user has had trouble with frequent urinary tract infections after injections.
Has use of Humira led to frequent UTI's?

I had a uti in November that I had to skip a shot to clear and I’m just getting over a mild kidney infection which was a result of a uti that I let go on too long.
It’s weird because I only had half the symptoms and none of the bad ones which is why I let it go on too long before seeing a doctor. Lesson learned.
Every illness is different when on Humira for some reason. I catch everything and every illness takes twice as long to get over but the symptoms are always half as bad as what I experienced before Humira.
I have been on Humira for almost 6 years and the last of year I have had recurring UTIs. I get the UTI and have to miss my dose of Humira. Then I take a dose and another UTI.
I was taking Cipro very time and that kept the cycle to about 4-6 weeks but my doctor s switched me to a different antibiotic because of the tendon issues but now I am on the third UTI since Christmas.
Yes, I just researched this! I got a UTI in August. I used antibiotics to get rid of it. In the last few months, it keeps returning, going away so I take my shot again, then returning after taking my shot. I ran out of antibiotics so I have been drowning it out with water and it goes away. I do my shot again to discover I have what feels like another UTI.
I've been on Humira for several years now and have never had a urinary infection. Could also be attributed to my lifestyle ( vegan ) or wearing cotton panties.
Biologics do lower your resistance to infection but seems opposite to me. I've not gotten more than a cold since I've been on it.

Have you had multiple surgeries which resulted in fistula issues? If so, did Humira close your fistula?
I assume you don't have bladder issues as Ido which make you prone to UTI's? If you do, that would be helpful to know.
